S3E5: Dr. Leigh Neumayer, on leadership – lessons from a path less traveled

Today, we are delighted to be presenting an interview with Dr. Leigh Neumayer. She visited Emory University last year to deliver General Surgery grand rounds, and we caught some of her valuable time to talk to her one-on-one. At this time, she was the University of Arizona College of Medicine, where she became their first female Chair of Surgery in 2014. Now she is the Chair of Surgery at University of Florida – Jacksonville. Dr. Neumayer is internationally recognized for her research contributions, having published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, as well as for her leadership in surgical education. She has held countless esteemed titles such as President of the Association for Surgical Education, the Association of VA Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, and more.

We talk to Dr. Neumayer about how she became a pioneer and mentor for women in surgery and leadership, and how you can pave your own unique path in surgery.
